Somebody asked me to help with graphs or charts that show temperature. Let's look at the following graph, which I found on Wikipedia.
The climograph below shows average monthly temperatures and rainfall in the city of Kolkata (or Calcutta).
The following easy questions should help you to notice some key features:
- Do temperatures and rainfall vary (change) significantly over the year?
- In which months are temperatures highest and lowest? (include figures)
- On average, how much rain falls in the months of July and August?
- What is noticeable about January and December?

Hello, Simon. First, I want to express my thanks to you for helping me a lot with your instructions. Here is my essay. Please, if you have time check it for me.
The graph depicts the amount of rainfalls and temperatures that has experienced in Calcuta during a year. According to the graph the climate is wetter, warmer in that place.
From the information provided that we can obviously see that rainfalls and temperatures vary significantly over the year. The least rainy months are winter months including November. The lowest amount of rainfall is approximately 10 mm where causes drought. The changing of temperature is a little similar to rainfall, where the minimum temperature is -20 degrees that is experienced in December.
Precipitations increases from March reaching its peak point in July whereas in this month the temperature fells slightly. The maximum rainfall is experienced approximately 330 mm. The highest temperature is in May with more than 30 degrees.
Overall, the chart says that summer is the most effective for people to make plants.

The bar graph shows that there is a significant change in temperature and rainfall in Calcutta all over the year.
In the month of July and August it has the highest temperature about 38c and in the month of December it has also a lowest temperature about 30c.However, there is an average of 340mm rainfall in the month of July and August
It has been noticed that the months of January and December there is a decrease of rainfall as well as with the temperature.
Simon kindly make some comments about the ideas that I made regarding the graph.
thank you.

Hi Mr. Simon, here is my report about this graph, could you please give me some comments about this.
-----------------------------------
Information about temperature and rain rate a year in Calcutta is depicted on the graph. In general, precipitation varies significantly from January through December while there are smaller changes in temperature.
As can be seen from the graph, Calcutta is most droughty at the beginning and end of the year. The amount of rainfall stands at about 20 mm in January. It starts to increase gradually to 100 mm in May before rocketing to above 250mm in June and reaching a peak of approximately 340 mm in July and August. After that, there is a dramatic fall to a low of 5 mm in December.
In contrast, temperature in Calcutta varies in a relative small range of 20 degree and just over 30 degree. There is a substantial increase in temperature from 20 degree at January to a high of 30 degree at May. It, then, declines steadily to about 28 degree in Oct before ending the year at 20 degree.

Hi Simon, Here is my explanation for the graph-
The graph reveals he average temperature and precipitation corresponding to it during different months of the year in kolkata.
it is clear that the temperature does not vary a lot throughout the year recording the highest value in May whereas the rainfall shows drastic fluctuations and attains the zenith in July.
In the beginning of the year kolkata records the minimum temperature at 20 deg while the precipitation values , at around 10mm.The precipitation and the temperature increas3s gradually till may making it the hottest month for the year.
The average rainfall level rockets in the following two months hitting the highest point in July at 350mm which shows almost same value in next month as well. The temperature levels for the four consecutive months being July the first. The precipitation and the temperature shows declining pattern June and august onwards respectively.the rainfall plunges and achieves its nadir,at approximately 10deg in December, while precipitation falls back to January's value as the year ends.

Dear Simon,
Here is my composition for this graph. Please help me to know my shortcuts of task 1. Because I can not reach 6.5 over a year. Thanks a lot.
The graph illustrates average monthly precipitation and temperature in the city of Kolkata. As we can see in this graph, the amount of rainfall has significant change over the year, while the monthly temperatures did not have a greatly exchanged. During the April to June, the temperature comes to reach highest degree which over 30 degree. And the degree of July to September stayed nearly 30 degree. The lowest degree in the city of Kolkata was in January and December with about twenty degree.
It is easily to see that the largest amount of rainfall between July and August was closely 330 mm. However, the lowest precipitation was significantly different with highest one with only less than 10mm in December. With lowest temperature in January and December, the rainfall was also the same lowest amount over the year.
Overall, we can see the winter in the city of Kolkata is shortage of water. And the heavy rain season started from June to September, while the temperature remained on average of 30 degree.

Hi Simon, I m Pirashanna from Singapore going to sit IELTS Exam by 17th of Nov in SG,
The graphs compare the monthly temperature distribution and the level of precipitation in the city of Kolkata over a year. It can be clearly seen the variation on climatic changes through out the year is significant.
The temperature is recorded around 20deg C at beginning of the
year then it was gradually increased and reached around 30 deg C at month of May. Simultaneously It was recorded less than 100 mm rain fall during this period. Anyhow highest rainfall was recorded at moth of May during the period of January to May.
The rainy season was started from may onwards and it continued up to september. The precipitation rate is drastically increased around 250 mm in june then it was remained higher until september and then it's continued reduce to less than 50mm in december. meanwhile temperature slightly dropped from May to September and then it's reduced more sharply to around 20 degC in December.
In conclusion, Temperature of the city is not depend on the level of precipitation

Hello Simone!
Can i conclude the description with the following sentence?
the average of the lowest winter temperatures corresponds with the lowest rainfall level.
thanks
Posted by: anna | November 05, 2012 at 12:20
1. On average, the degree of hotness does not show any significant change whereas; the level of precipitation has changed considerably over the course of time.
2. April and May claim to be the hottest months of the year as confirmed by its average value of 33 degrees. In contrast, a temperature of only 20 degree centigrade, recorded for the months of January and December, marks the dawn of the winter season.
3. The wettest time period of the year encompass two consecutive 30 days period of July and August, where a 340 millimetres rainfall was documented on the average.
4. Both January and December seem to be the driest, with only as little as 10 mm precipitations, as well as coolest months (with a 20 degree of hotness) of the year.
Can anybody make any improvement to this? Please!

The climograph demonstrates average monthly rainfall and temperature experienced by Kolkata , one of the cities in India in a year from January till December. As is seen, the graph depicts that the annual rainfall fluctuates through out the year from the highest at about 330 mm and the lowest about 20mmm where as the state does not experience significant change in temperature from the peak 20c to the low about 19 C. It only indicates that kolkota remains hot, warm and dry season though out the year.
Moving on to the details, Kolkota receives the highest rainfall in the month of July flowed by August at about 330mm while the temperature remains at approximately 20c t. on the contrary, it is noticed that December experienced the lowest rainfall at about .5 C while there is not mch drop in temperature ( 19C).

Hi Simon,
Thanks for giving the online practice opportunity. Following are my answers.
Both temperature an rainfall in Kolkata vary throughout the year. But the the variation in temperature is more significant.
The temperatures highest in July and August, where the averages lie between 35 to 40 degree C.In the adjacent months, namely June and September, the temperatures are also much higher comparative to the other months of the year.
In July and August, the average rainfall in Kolkata is on average 290mm.
December has the lowest average temperature below 5 degree and this cold weather remains in January where it is about 5 degree. Beside this, these two months experience lowest rainfall.
Thanks.
