RE:The clock is a real family heirloom, so hopefully I'll inherit it one day.

Question:My question comprises 2 parts: Is it "can we say" OR "could we say", the clock is a real family heirloom, so hopefully I would inherit it one day.

Thank you Simon for clock description.
Could a write some idea about"describe your favourite book" topics. Its a kind of silly question but most of the time we are making mistakes in the common questions.thanks.

Hi Simon,

Those are real helpful tips, but I think those are should be awarded more than 7..

Hi Simon,

I have a question about pronunciation. My pronunciation is a bit awkward. For example, I usually don't pronounce the /r/ sound like the American but, for words like 'thought', my pronunciation is more like the American. So, my pronunciation is kinda a mix between these two. Therefore, I wonder if it is OK in IELTS or I have to follow one specific way completely. If I have to, then can you show me which one is easier to learn or more convenient, understandable ??

Hi Simon

Could you please let me feel relaxed with ur answer.
In Speaking Part II I do my best to speak less than 2 mins, but my speaking always exceeds the alloted time. I speak at normal speed. I would like to know if the examiner stops me, is it going to affect my score, as I wont be able to cover the very last question?

Speaking topics 1:

What kind of car is appealing to you?
Do you prefer to live in a rural, urban or suburban area?

Speaking topics 2:

What profession do you work in or plan to work in?
What were your primary reasons for choosing your present job?
What are your professional goals for the next decade?
What kinds of opportunities does your profession offer for working abroad?

Speaking topics 3:

What kinds of adventures are attractive to you?
What kinds of luxuries do you enjoy?
Is it important to you to have luxuries?

Hello Simon,

I must congratulate you on your innovative ideas and teaching skills.

I have taken IELTS five times till date and have missed out on achieving desired band score by a whisker. The required band scores are as follows: L-8, R-7, W-7, S-8 in academic module.
My scores are:
L-7, R-6, W-6.5 and S-6 (Jan, 2013)
L-9, R-7, W-7.0, S-7.5 (Aug, 2013)
L-8.5, R-7, W-7.5, S-7.5 (Sept, 2013)
L-8, R-6, W-6.5, S-7 (Oct, 2013)
L-8, R-6.5, W-7, S-7.5 (Jan, 2013).

It is so frustrating to be so tantalisingly close and squander a huge amount of money each time I take test.

Currently, I am following your guidelines mentioned on this site for each module and I feel that you would be able to give me a band 8 answer to the Speaking Part-3 questions written below. I have tried a number of times to discuss these questions with my friends but I am still disgruntled.
