I'd just like to thank you simon for the lessons and advices you've taught us through this website. I have taken the exam 3 times but my writing score is always the stubborn 6.5... But because of how you made it sound like it's easy and attainable.. I tOok it by heart and got these scores:

L9, R8.5, W7, S7= overall8

Thank you so much! I'd definitely recommend this website to struggling ielts takers and hopefully they too can get their goal score.

More power simon!

Hi Simon,

Could please explain your answers? I think in the third question where said " there is no official advice" means less controlled. If we don't interpret the context then the second question would be " Not Given" either.

FROM SIMON:

Hi Ryan,

Someone posted their answer using my name, and I've deleted it. Look further down the page for my answer.

1 True
2 False
"American paediatricians advise"
3. Not given
France has banned shows aimed at under-threes. "Shows aimed at under-threes" doesn't mean "Children’s television programming".

Hi Simon,

The second question says shows aimed at two are banned in the USA, while in the text writer haven't talked about any shows aimed at two...

I know you don't leave your answers without explanations. Would you explain the answers please?

FROM SIMON:

Hi Pearl,

Someone used my name to post their answer, and I've deleted it. Look further down the page (or on the next page) for my answers.

Correct answer and explanation:
1. True: that the more television they
watched the worse they were at
mathematics

2. False: American paediatricians advise that
under-twos should not watch any
television and that older children should
view one to two hours a day at most.

'Should not' means that under-twos CAN watch TV and it is not banned.

3. Not given: France has banned
shows aimed at under-three. Britain has no official advice

Just because 'Britain has no ADVICE' doesn't mean that it doesn't CONTROL strictly. In fact, we have no information about control in Britain and cannot compare to France.

1. Not Given 2. False 3.Ture. When can we know the right answers? Thank you
