Here are some formal phrases that I've used in previous lessons. See if you can use them in your own letters:
Beginning the letter by explaining why you are writing:
- I am writing with regard to...
- I am writing to inform you that...
- I am writing to bring to your attention some issues with...
Requesting or suggesting something:
- I have decided that I would like you to...
- I am entitled to ask for...
- I was wondering if it would be possible (for me) to...
- I hope that you will...
- I would like to suggest that...
Ending the letter with a request for action:
- I look forward to receiving your response.
- I await your prompt response.
Good phrase~!! Thanks Simon :)

Hi Simon
I am a silent member of your site. I learned a lot from you and for that I am very grateful to you. your lesson helped me in improving every skill. I ve given IELTS in July 2014 and got overall Band 7. I found your website one week before test therefore could not get much benefit from it but I did preparation of my speaking test with the help of your lessons.I got Band 7 in speaking I have strong feeling that I got 7 just because of your lessons. Now I am giving IELTS again to improve my score in writing where i got 6.5 . I will have my test on thursday. This time i have to maintain my reading and speaking band and improve listening from 7.5 to 8 and writing from 6.5 to 7.
I am doing preparation from your lessons and i m pretty sure that i will get required bands.
Again Thanks Simon you are really a good teacher.
I would always be grateful to you as i learnt a lot from you.
