FinallY,I was able to attain overall band score 7.5 (Listening 8.5, reading 7, writing 6.5, speaking7.5) that I was longig for achieving for about a year!!! I don't remember being so happy as I got my results released! Thank you Mr. Simon for all your kind support, effective techniques, structures you offer us through challenging IELTS preparation, you were a huge inspiration for me along the way to gain a higher score regardless of challenges and hardships, you answered my enquiries via e'mail a couple of times and lifted me up towards working hard! You will always be my spiritual mentor, a source of motivation, I love and respect you!! My best and kind regards from Baku! Humay

My question is when write task 1, I often start with the sentence : A glance at the graph provided reveals................ So, is it possible to do that cause I read in a book Write Right that it's a band 7 sentence. So, what do you think? or should I start with just normal way?

Pham,
I strongly suggest that you closely follow Simon's model essays, eBook, and videos. Simon's approach to the IElTS test is direct and practical for IElTS candidates who aim for higher scores (7+). Some other IElTS books aim to write complex sentences unnecessarily. I would say the latter approach may reduce your score because it is too complex to understand.

Hi simon, how are you
Can you please help me to improve writing and speaking for 6 or more.
I am an average student.i have some confusions in my mind.
is it true that in writing 2 firstly secondly become outdated and can reduce bands ?
supervisors in ielts exam hall can cut bands if testtakers do not follow instructions in listening test what speaker say (untill speaker do not give instruction to read for section 2, candidate can not read)

Hi Simon, per the question 2.Bristol was the UK’s second city in terms of the number of cyclists, ______ 8,108 in 2001.
Is the answer with?
I found this sentence from your blog.
Bristol was the UK’s second city in terms of total numbers of cycling commuters, with 8,108 in 2001 and 15,768 in 2011.
That's why I thought the answe could be with.
However, "at" also sounds OK to me, since there is no -ing in this case.
I appreciate your comment.
