I've just watched the interesting TED talk below. The speaker explains that according to her research, the most significant predictor of success among students is "grit". So, what is "grit" and how can we build it?

Thank you for your share Simon. After watching this video, I guess the meaning of "grif" is kind of a spirit of determination and just sticking to one thing for a long time. And the speaker in this video actually didn't give any methods to cultivate this kind of spirit.

Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term goals. In other words, grit means staying with the future and working very hard to reach the long-term aims. There is any specific way to make children gritty. However, if children know about how a brain works and grows. They will believe in that the ability of their learning is not fixed and they are able to improve it.
Thank you.

Grit is passion and perseverance towards long-term goals, to stick with future and treat life as a marathon , not a sprint. As Hilary Clinton put it, never stop fighting for what's right !

Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. in other words, it is a marathon, not a sprint. the way to build grit by growing the growth mindset. this believe that the ability to learn something is not fix, that it can change.

Grit in this case indicates long-term commitment to achieving your goal. It resembles a marathon rather than a sprint. You must work hard and over the year rather than days or months.

Hi all,
I think we need to answer what grit is, and then how to build it. Here is my corresponding dictation for the question.
Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is having stamina. Grit is staying with your future, day-in, day-out, not for the week, the month but for years, and working really hard to make that future reality. Git is living life like marathon not a sprint.
So far, the best idea to build grit is called growth mindset. It is the belief that the ability to learn is
not fixed, and it can change with your efforts. When kids read and learn about the brain, and how it grows and changes in response to the challenges, They are much likely to persevere when they fail.Because they do believe that failure is a permanent condition.
My dictations might not be 100 percents correct just for references.
Best regard,
Qing
