1. China and the United States produced and consumed FAR more electricity than any other country in 2014.

2. OF the ten countries shown on the chart, only Germany consumed more electricity than IT produced.

3. In 2014, China was RANKED first in terms OF the amount of electricity that it produced and consumed.

4. China produced 5398 billion kWh of electricity in THAT year, while the US, which WAS ranked second, produce JUST over 4000 billion kWh of electricity.

The difference in meaning between "China ranked ..." and "China was ranked ..." is quite small. The first tends to suggest more of an absolute fact, whereas the second simply reports the ranking as per the chart or table.

thanks for your help, so 'China' here is the undergoer? then these two forms are Intransitive+passive(china was ranked) and intransitive+active(china ranked)?

Yes, China is the "undergoer" in "China was ranked". This is indeed passive, and generally passive verbs never have an object. In English, however, there are a few exceptions, such as "give" in "She was given a book".
