Multiple choice questions in the listening test are always difficult. I can think of four reasons for this:
- There's a lot of information in the question choices, so there's a lot to think about while you're listening.
- Some of the choices might be similar.
- All of the choices might be mentioned in some way.
- Synonyms or paraphrasing may be used instead of the words that you see in the choices.
Here's a good example from Cambridge IELTS book 10, page 12.
Which TWO facilities at the leisure club have recently been improved?
A) the gym
B) the tracks
C) the outdoor pool
D) the indoor pool
E) the sports training for children
Which two answers did you choose? Did you experience any of the four difficulties that I mentioned above?
A
D
I chose indoor pool by chance. I get a little bit confused about the roof.
But I checked the answers and they are true.

Majid,
You have to answer the question with YOUR OWN experience from listen the audio file, but you should not ruining our opportunity to try it through expose the answer from the book!!
Obviously you can check that for your confirmation but it is not good way to reveal the answer since Simon always give us the correct one after everyone tried.
Thanks for your understanding

Dear Sir, I start following your blog as recommended by my friend. I found that your advice and teaching very helpful even though I still not fully exploring the IELTS format.
English is my third language after mother tongue Chinese while Malay is my daily used language due to my occupation. I hope I can overcome the barrier (need translate from own language before say it out in English) and limitation (no english environment surrounding me). To brush up my English, I will keep reading your blog and practicing English everyday.
For listening exam, I face all four difficulties in multiple choice questions adding more killing when 2 person conversation with different slang!
Lastly, I wish Sir has good health with abundant of good returns as your sharing and teaching helping a lot of people around the world as long there is internet assess.
Sincerely from heart, Million Thanks Again Mr Simon.

Hi Simon,
I am new on your blog site and found it very useful. My education background was non-English and I have never taken any English coaching and learnt from the real world. Now I am preparing for IELTS and my goal is to get 8777 in Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking. Out of the four tests, I found Speaking is difficult. Can you suggest me the right pathway to achieve my goal?
Thanks
Brijesh Singh
