Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Here's the essay plan that I asked you to think about last week:
- Introduction: completely agree
- Main paragraph: why music transcends cultures and age groups
- Main paragraph: how music connects people
- Conclusion: repeat / summarise
But KiKi suggested an alternative plan, which I think is better:
- Introduction: completely agree
- Main paragraph: why music transcends or connects cultures
- Main paragraph: how music connects different age groups
- Conclusion: repeat / summarise
KiKi has noticed that the question contains two ideas: cultures and ages. It makes sense to look at these two ideas separately and use them as the basis for our two main paragraphs. This is a great way to approach many IELTS questions.
It is often said that unfamiliar people from various cultures and ages could be easily connected with music. I completely agree with this, and I believe the emotions and memories brought by the melody can transcend national barriers and generations.
Music can easily put people in different moods, and those feelings are universal. People from different backgrounds can be motivated or touched by the same songs even without understanding the lyrics. For example, the BangTan Sonyeondan (BTS), a South Korean boy band, has become very popular around the world, and whenever their new music videos uploaded on YouTube, it always broke the most-viewed record within the day of its release. Despite the fact that more than half of their fans are from foreign countries and not familiar with Korean, the versatile melody in their music can still touch their fans’ hearts. Also, some of the movie soundtracks have become the global craze because of their catchy main themes, such as Frozen and The Lord of the Rings.
Alongside the emotions, music always evokes old memories and brings different age groups together. People who had gone through a similar situation are likely to be influenced by the same tune regardless of their age. After a hard’s work, people tend to feel like listening to jazz or blues to unwind themselves. Music is also a remarkable media to tell similar stories and reflect the same feeling over generations. There are abundant remixes of classical music on social media and TV advertisements, which is still very influential among different age groups, and it seems that it never goes out of fashion.
In conclusion, music is universal and I fully support the view that music could bring people together beyond geographies and generations.

Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Music is common source of fun and pleasure for majority of people of all ages and various cultural backgrounds. Even if we do not understand words, we can still enjoy in listening different styles and performances. It is agreed that people from miscellaneous countries and age groups can share same passion to some music. This will be shown by looking at the example of successful acceptance of blues between people of different regions and ages.
Firstly, blues was developed by African slaves who worked on lands and farms across present-day USA. In the beginning only slaves played and sang this genre. Despite strict social boundaries between classes, blues was gradually accepted among wide public. Unfortunately, the first composers of blues song were tortured and often killed by the same people who actually listened and enjoyed in their compositions. Here, we see that despite unsurmountable differences, music could be common entertainment between people of different origin.
Secondly, blues is equally popular between young and elderly. For instance, many novel guitar players are looking forward to learn to play blues. Actually, playing a blues solo on guitar is the matter of prestige among youngsters. On the other hand, blues is popular tune in retirement homes, making their residents nostalgic when they evoke memories of their own youth. Thus, it is clear that ages are not the hindrance in linking people together.
In conclusion, at the example of blues we can see that music can indeed connect people of the various background and ages. If not physically together, than connected through radio and internet blues stations.

Some people believe that school children should not be given homework by their teachers, whereas others argue that lomas homework plays an important role in the education of children Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
There is a debate whether homework should be given to children out this has both advantages and disadvantages and I suppose that children should do homework.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why homework is unnecessary. Firstly, students need to study other range of crucial knowledge. For instance, they can engage in outdoor activities to gain social knowledge. They can improve vital skills which are necessary to their future such as communication skills. Moreover children have chances to play sports to keep fit and improve their health. Because they only study efficiently when they are strong.
However, homework should be given to students because of range of reasons. It's the best way to enable children to remember whatever they studied at school. It's meaningless is they do not review at home no matter how well they learn at school. For example, if children do not remember the previous lessons, they can't study the following lessons. Furthermore when they are free free at home, they are bored and it is easy to be addicted to playing video games which is unhealthy to them.
In conclusion, whether a homework is necessary depend on teach individual. However, In my opinion, children should have homework to remember deeply the lessons studied at school.
